Biography
Strange things are formed when alcohol is brought into any equation, Choke for one being an example...
It was on one alcohol fuelled night in the Spring of 2003 that the idea of Choke was born over the next few months the band began to take shape with members being recruited on all instruments.
The line-up at this point was Aaron Vance::Vocals, Phill Hendry::Bass, Steve Martin::Guitar, Chris McConnell::Guitar, Andy Burns::Drums and the band settled on the name Choke.
With all members of the band now extremely dedicated and determined to make a name for themselves, Choke hit the practice room and began to write the kind of music they wanted to hear, breaking all boundaries and conforming to no standards. Taking influence from the music they loved, from Pantera to Iron Maiden and from Emperor to Twisted Sister (courtesy of Phill), Choke began writing their own material to unleash upon anyone and everyone, disregarding all opinions and criticisms.
Choke then proceeded to hit the live circuit and started to gain a reputation for a leathal live band giging at any opportunity that was available to them. This continued for around a year and a half then the band decided to finally record their demo CD "The Mourning After".
The Mouning After was recorded by a local independant label called Rundown Records, recorded in a few days and on a small budjet the CD was quickly snapped up by all the faithful CHOKErs.
Choke continued for another few months promoting this CD but at the start of 2006 the band suffered a major loss with lead guitar player Steve leaving the band.Disheartened by this Choke decided to carry on regardless and decided to go recruiting another guitar player. After auditioning a few guitar players who just didnt fit the band a guitar player by the name of Chris Wilson came like a breath of fresh air to the band and without much deliberation he was in.
2006 was to be an eventful year for Choke with the addition of Chris Wilson to the band they began writing new material and began giging again however it was not to last long.Rhythm guitar player Chris McConnell was asked to leave the band due to differences between the band and him.So again Choke were a guitar player down however good freind to the band Thomas McShane stepped up to replace Chris on guitar and the band again went back to writing new material and honing thier skills.
With Chokes line-up the strongest its been they are now ready to get out and unleash their unique brand of metal onto the world so 2007 will be the year of CHOKE so watch this space!!! |
